Availability
TypeNod for Mac is coming soon. Downloads and purchases are not open yet. Here’s what to expect when it’s available.
Requirements
- Supported macOS versions and Mac models will be listed here when downloads open.
- Translation requires on-device Chinese-to-English translation on your Mac. Where it isn’t supported, you can still type Chinese.
Pricing and license
The lifetime Mac license costs US$9.90. Pay once to use TypeNod for Mac permanently, including future updates, with no renewal fees. The Mac license does not include the iPhone version.
Both pinyin input and translation require purchase and activation. There is no free trial at launch. You can request a full refund within 30 days of purchase by contacting support@typenod.com.
Lifetime access includes future TypeNod for Mac updates as they become available. Compatibility with future macOS releases is not guaranteed.
Install
- Open TypeNod. In License, click Enter License…, paste the license you received after purchase, then click Activate. The license is verified offline on your Mac.
- Under Setup in Overview, click Install.
- Click Add…, then in Keyboard settings, click Edit next to Input Sources under Text Input, click Add (+), select TypeNod under Chinese, Simplified, then click Add. If it isn’t listed, log out and back in, then try again.
- Next to Translation resources (Chinese to English), click Download…. macOS downloads and manages these resources; once they’re ready, TypeNod works offline.
Start typing
- Switch to TypeNod with Control-Space, the Globe key, or the input menu in the menu bar.
- Type pinyin and press Space to choose a candidate. The translation appears in the panel.
- Press Space again to insert the translation. Clicking an app’s Send button sends the Chinese text instead.
While typing, press Tab to switch between inserting Chinese and English; the change applies to what you’re typing right away. The Translate into English setting in Overview applies from your next input.
Update
In the app’s Help section, click Check for Updates… to get a newer version of the app. You can also turn off automatic checks there.
After updating, reopen TypeNod. If Setup shows Update, click it to finish updating the input method.
Uninstall
- In Keyboard settings, click Edit next to Input Sources under Text Input, select TypeNod, and click Remove (−).
- In the app’s Help section, click Uninstall…. The input method moves to the Trash, where you can restore it. The app and your settings stay.
- If you no longer need TypeNod, move the app to the Trash too.
