Support

If something isn't working, start with the known limitations and fixes below.

Known limitations

  • Mac downloads and purchases are not available yet; the information below is a preview of how to use TypeNod.
  • For now, TypeNod supports only Simplified Chinese pinyin input translated into English.
  • Translations can contain errors. Review the preview before sending, especially names, numbers, dates, and amounts.
  • Clicking an app’s Send button while you’re typing sends the Chinese text. Press Space to insert the translation first, then send.
  • Because it doesn’t learn from your input, candidates don’t adapt over time.
  • Password fields and other secure text fields don’t allow third-party input methods.
  • Editors that don’t use the standard text input system may not work with TypeNod.

Compatibility

Supported apps and any specific limitations will be listed here when downloads open.

Troubleshooting

TypeNod isn’t listed in Keyboard settings

Make sure Setup in the app shows it as installed, then log out and back in, and try again.

Setup shows “Not recognized by macOS yet”

In Setup, click Register Again.

Input misbehaves in an app

In the app’s Help section, click Restart. TypeNod reloads automatically; then try again.

The app says the installed input method isn’t valid

Uninstall it in Help, then install it again.

Translation resources show “Not supported on this Mac”

This Mac can’t translate Chinese into English on device yet. You can still type Chinese.
